She Doesn't Want To Call Off The Wedding. But She Might Have No Choice. Hello, My name is Batsheva Brand and I'm a mother of 7 k''h in Eretz Yisroel. My husband has given his life to Torah while also teaching and supporting others. I work in a kindergarten, doing everything I can to help our family. Yet despite our efforts, we are drowning. We live in a crumbling 42-square-meter apartment. The roof leaks, water floods our floors, and the ceiling has holes so large that a stray cat once fell into our living room. We've divided our tiny living room with plywood to create an extra "room," but this home is falling apart around us and unlivable, especially in the winter. Boruch Hashem we have three upcoming simchas: Two of our sons are chassanim, and our youngest son is preparing for his Bar Mitzvah. How can we make even the simplest chasunah—let alone two? How can we celebrate a Bar Mitzvah when we can't even afford tefillin? We work as hard as we can, but it's simply not enough.
