But the worst was the intense loneliness and separation from her family as she lay paralyzed in hospital. The hospital where Mrs Ghermiza stayed is miles from her home - and too far for Shabbos visitors. While Gila Miriam is now home with her family, if they don't procure $10,000 per month for her medical equipment, she'll be moved back to the hospital for what could be a permanent stay. The Ghermizas can no longer afford the costs of her breathing apparatus, as 8 years of care wiped them out financially and left them deeply in debt.
