We can really, really use your help at Chabad.org now!

By the Grace of G‑d
Erev Yom Kippur, 5785

Dear Mr. Lakin,

I trust this pre-Yom Kippur note reaches you on a high note (despite any challenging circumstances...) and you are preparing to be sealed in G-d's book for a Good, Healthy and Sweet Year!

If I may be so bold —

We can really, really use your help at Chabad.org now!

Our team is laboring around the clock to bring the beautiful spirit and practice of Judaism to millions — to the many who are querying us urgently about the holy days! — while balancing a slew of new and vital services for the year ahead.

In fact, they've been doing that practically uninterruptedly from as far back as I can remember, heroically fulfilling the non-stop timely requests from people and communities around the globe, even in the face of historic demand since Oct 7 last year, even in the face of personal illness and other challenges. Throughout they've remained steadfast: We will not rest until all are helped! Nothing at all will stand in our way from helping others!

However, to facilitate the many vital services we are conducting for young and old, it is crucial that we reach our Yom Kippur campaign goal of 18,000 charitable partners.

Given your partnership and past support for the millions we serve — for which we remain eternally grateful! — and considering the unique circumstances so many people find themselves in now, I ask you:

Can we please once again count on your partnership and support?

Your pre-Yom Kippur donation can make all the difference in the life of one young person (or millions of them!) who depend on us for Jewish engagement. This is especially so amid the global angst and upheaval — and its accompanying search for meaning.

A thought to consider:

In less than 24 hours we will each beseech G-d to grant us life — healthy life, meaningful life, productive life, good life — life as G-d alone can provide.

We will repeat these requests with increasing urgency throughout this holiest day of the year: Please G-d, give me life! Give my family life! Give our brothers and sisters in Israel life! Give the entire Jewish People life! Give the entire world life!

Our Sages inform us that G-d's response often mirrors our own initiative: When we perform a good deed G-d performs similar good deeds in return.

When we generously 'Give Life' to others, G-d opens for us the floodgates of His life-blessings.

With this in mind, can you please partner with us now to give life to others this year?

(Please also remember Chabad.ORG in your will.)

Every dollar helps ensure that the lifesaving work continues this year! (Just $36 helps provide expert guidance to a troubled teenager!)

We are very grateful to you for your consideration, and look forward to serving you in the year to come!

Now, Mr. Lakin, here's where I should have really begun today:

Are you okay?? Are you set for Yom Kippur? Is there anything we can do for you?

Every single one of our users is an entire world unto himself and herself, and is of great concern and importance to us. Please do not hesitate to share...

(Also, if, G‑d forbid, financial challenges preclude you from partnering with us, we bless you to overcome them ASAP and emerge healthier and stronger than ever! Definitely please do not feel pressured by our requests!)

And, finally, one more important matter:

If you are feeling a little inundated by our repeated solicitations, I'd like to apologize to you and request a moment to explain:

Many of our users have shared that it takes sending many emails before any of them are noticed—and it is impossible to micro-target and reach each person at just the right time... And it is only through this multi-pronged grassroots effort that we are able to keep our doors open to serve. But we certainly rue the inconvenience to you and apologize to you for that.

Also, if you have already contributed to our High Holiday campaign and thus consider this (and other similar requests) out of place, please accept our double apologies for sending you this (and other) additional note(s)! NOTE: To help us exclude prior donors to this campaign from receiving additional emails: If you contributed using a different email address please let us know so we can connect the two. Also, did you perhaps send us a check? It might not yet have been processed, due to the holiday, but will, please G‑d, very soon.

No matter what, if you are unable or do not wish to contribute at this time, please know that you are still always welcome and encouraged to enjoy our website and subscriptions!

Thank you immensely for your patience and understanding.

Mr. Lakin, my colleagues and I bless you that G‑d reciprocates in an overflowing manner to you and your loved ones, to be sealed in the Book of Life for the very best of life — beginning with health and joy! — during the year to come, in all matters material and spiritual!

On behalf of the Chabad.org Team,

In gratitude and blessing,

Rabbi Zalman Shmotkin
Executive Director
